Generally, I think (and I suspect that even those die-hard MSR fans out there will agree), there is nothing worse than a Dana-And- Fox-Get-Married -And-Have-A-Kid story. Blueswirl shows us all how wrong we are. First off, it helps that she's a remarkably talented writer...weaving dialogue both internal and external with a master hand in a way that is not cloying, not cliche and not out of character in the least. A gripping series of vignettes, Chiaroscuro is everything a great story needs to be. Gripping, intelligent, thoughtful and compelling.
